Looks great George!!!
I am a little concerned about giving "support" to people who intentionally want to defraud others by making and selling fake coins (last line in your list). It sounds like we are going to make it legitimate to do this type of thing.

By frauds I mean those associated with historic unrecognised states, such as Poyais and the various Byzantine pretenders etc; people who have used unrecognised states as a confidence trick.
Fake coins from "real" countries aren't really something I think we can or ought to concern ourselves with - hence the term "fraud" as opposed to "fake".

George:
Yesterday in an exchange of emails, Oded and I decided to explore the idea of taking out a 1/2 page ad in UWC 3rd.
I contacted Ms. Konkel and she is offering us a 1/2 ad for $375, which is even less than the generous 20% discount rate they were already granting us.
The only hitch is that I have to give Ms. Konkel an answer by this afternoon US Pacific Time!
I already sent Oded a personal email.
As for your ad design, it is just a blur on the screen. If you would not mind sending it as an email attatchement to me, I would like to make sure the print ad and flyers are coordinated.
Did Ms. Konkel or Ms. Roberts tell you the ad was b&w? Many of the ads in the 05 Standard catalog are color. For appearance and marketing reasons Oded was suggesting the flyers be color, in sinc with the website.
This weekend I got a package from Mr. Mulhall. He has a nice looking magazine. In an exchange of emails a couple weeks ago, he had suggested an interest in an article on American Civil War coinage. This may be do-able.
Although you are retisant to include "willy nilly" submissions, the Civil War was 150 years ago and if an article is submitted next month, I doubt it will be out of date if used for an article this coimg summer.
Thanks:
Stephen

I think since the ad will appear in Unusual World Coins, the term "fraud" will probably be interpreted correctly (in the sense that is intended by the USNS); the word "bogus" is also one that is bandied about quite a bit in regards to some of our coinage. It may still sound kind of pejorative to some, but I think it has come to denote some coins that are so nice that the term has been colloquially softened somewhat over the years. It's a handsome-looking ad! I think we will get a lot of "bang for our bucks" out of this one, for years to come!

George:
We have an offer on the table from Ms. Konkel of Krause for a 1/2 page ad in UWC 3rd, at $ 375. This is more than the 20% discount they were offering us prior.
She needs an answer ASAP. I promised he an answer by this afternoon.
A larger ad means that all those tiny b&w coins in your ad will be able to be seen. At present only the Sealand coin can be read.
We may also be able to reduce the large blank space in the ad, and enlarge the coin photo to same effect. Try using your croping feature, along with enlargement of the coin collage. You'll see what I mean.
Oded sent me an email yesterday with our "new" email; 2003USNS@sbcglobal.net. Which email is the one we are going with??
I agree with your suggestion of an ad in CP if the quote is now $17. The last email from Mr. Rogers quoted me was a 1/4 at around $50.
I also got a package from John Mulhall. We can submit a display ad with him, in color for $ 60 US. He has a "free club section" that he didn't tell me about in the emails. I'll contact him about that.

Hey George:
One last point. The mailing address zip code last four digits include the PO Box number and are thus not needed. This will give you more space in the ad.

Stephen, If the group decides on a half page ad rather than a quarter pager then they had better advise me of the specifications pretty quick-smart - I don't have a lot of time available this week to be fiddling around with this. Concerning colour vs b&w I automatically assumed it was b&w because as far as I'm aware the catalogue is mostly b&w and nobody mentioned that the ad would be anything else. The ad was actually designed in colour, so there are no issues with changing it if desired. I suggest someobody confirm this with Krause and advise me which way to jump - fast. Once we are agreed on the ad I can quickly create a full-colour A5 flyer using the same format, to keep everything in the "house style" established by the website. Hey George:
I can contact Ms. Konkel today with respect to the color / b&w issue. The ads in Standard Catalog 05 are color, but it may not be the same for UWC.
If the ad is submitted in color, then running it in b&w at Krause should not be the problem.
What is the problem is that it is now 1:30 pm PST, and I promised Ms. Konkel a decision on the 1/2 page offer they are making. I left an email for Oded, because I think this is a decision he'll need to make. Too little time.
A bigger ad does mean that your coin collage will be easier to see. And, a larger font size means the blank space in the ad could be used.

On the Flyer:
I sent Oded a completed flyer using only the "house colors" green, white and black, website logo and your coin collage.
It has the updated email address (which Oded suggested of USNS2003@sbcglobal), and removes the last 4 digits of the zip code - which is the PO Box number.
To avoid irritating some members, I'll be happy to email you that version personally, or you can ask Oded for it. It includes membership & payment info at bottom
