The United States of Africa are the AFRO coins, of which you know.

Sorry Oded I don't know anything about any AFRO coins. Are they a micronation or something else?

Hi George, Adding them was just a suggestion, after I cross-referenced the listings at the Coin Library with my Links site. If you don't add them, that's cool, too. Andor Orand is listed in page 1 of my links. He's made square versions of a German Mark, an American Quarter, and a Japanese Yen. Pretty interesting. Victor Vincente would go in the Miscellaneous section, like the other names in that final paragraph. He has minted quite a few very beautiful coins. United Maxxico America is also on page 3 of my links. Don't know much about it...(the real scoop, that is) United States of Africa is the Afro Mint coins. There was an article on the internet that mentioned the Afros as being the currency of a proposed U.S. of Africa. I really liked the name, so I used it. Are Internation Trade Units and World Trade Units, may of them have no issuer names on them. I'd personally delete both of them from the Alternate Currencies listing (where they are now; these are "denominations" as opposed to locales or issuing entities). The Mints I suggested (Texas Mint, Shire Post Mint, Lasqueti Mint are pretty collectible; very beautiful coins; Texas Mint strikes State of Texas coins, Shire Post Mint strikes a slew of neat items, Lasqueti Mint has made coins for Lasqueti Island and Gabriola Island).

More questions... Lasqueti Is and Gabriola Is - are these fantasies? Would you agree the AFRO is an alternative currency? I'll include links to the mints on the links page, rather than in the library. The library can deal with their releases, but under the name of each issuing entity. Hi Erik,
I think everything is now listed in the library where it should be. Let me know if further changes/additions are necessary.

Hi! Lasqueti and Gabriola are coins issued by a pair of guys (in Canada); they don't fall 100% in one of the categories, so I though Miscellaneous would be good. I wouldn't call the AFRO an alternative currency as of yet. In spite of the "hoopla", they still seem to be sets minted especially for collectors. I even wrote to Mr. Moschetti about this- that if they really wanted to introduce an alternative currency, they would have to issue smaller denominations in ways that would really appear like useable pocket-change. It's funny how some of these alternative currencies (with the exception of Damanhur and Christiania) are too fancy-looking to ever really be USED. I would venture to guess that the Afro-coin profits are going into the pockets of one person and that there is no real noble cause. But that's just my cynical side. So I still see them as fantasies, and even though there may be a purported Land-connection (a handful of south African nations), it's really not a micro-nation. Perhaps someday, if they continue minting and sticking to their story, they could be classified like the Europa coins?
