That would be really nice to have a USNS Souvenir Shop. I know that Atlantium has one and also Hutt River, Molossia and Seborga.

Good heavens!
Where on earth did they get that Atlantian flag from?
They seem to have invented a whole new design!
The prices are great though - much cheaper than we get when manufacturing ours here.

Yeah I didn't like the flag design either. You need to email them and tell them to change the flag to the "blue, Yellow and Orange" that would be better. Yes they are cheaper and they can also make you a flag for the cost of the 4x6" flag. Can't beat that.

I guess they were "smart" enough to know better than to open themselves up to trademark infringements by copying the ACTUAL flag in all its proper colors. But they still used the name, though! Let us know what they say, George!! Erik

Oh we don't mind if they sell the proper flags - our view is that the more people who buy it, the more people who will hear about us - but in that case we do want it to be right flag and not some invented concoction.

I'm relieved! I was afraid you were going to begin legal proceedings and the like. Exactly, the colors should be correct, all the more so to lead people to discover Atlantium. I have been thinking alot about Atlantium lately; the legacy of it all. Especially in the days since I purchased (and waited for the arrival of) "The Story of Atlantis", published back in '68 by Stevens (I got it in the mail today, and can't wait to dissect it, figuratively speaking, and to add a few extra sentences to my listing at the LINKS site) and began reflecting on the major micro-nations. There's not much left of Atlantis, or Celestia (I have one of their books as well - more like a pamphlett/booklet); the coins, the few pieces of paper, the listings/mentions in a catalog and on several websites- struggling to keep the memory alive. I thought of the micronations and non-territorial states of TODAY, and the legacy they will leave 40 years down the road. I began to realize that Atlantium is indeed a major force (my knowledge is, of course, is spotty; but I need to visit your site and learn more), and I hope it grows immensely, and I am rooting for its unprecedented success!! I mean, sometimes I think that minting my own coin was a nice creative effort, but the concept of Atlantium over these 20 years, that is indeed quite an accomplishment!

Hi Erik,
Thanks for the kind words. The longer Atlantium endures, the more stimulating I find the entire experience of being part of something that has become much bigger than the sum of its parts - not to mention vastly different than the entity my cousins and I envisaged as teenagers back in 1981.
I've met all sorts of extraordinary people through Atlantium, and am constantly surprised at how people happily adopt it as a sort of umbrella organisation for the promotion of all types of positive agendas.
It's encouraging to know that one's legacy possesses a resonance with others from all walks of life, from all around the world.

Erik,
What's the chance of getting a page-for-page scan of the publications on Atlantis and Celestia ?
This is precisely the sort of information we need in our online reference library.
I'd be particularly keen to include the Celestia booklet. If you're happy to loan anything to me I'm happy to do can do high-res scans myself.

Yes they need to get the right flag on the site because if people buy that flag and find out that it is not the correct flag of Atlantium than I think they would want there money back. As for me and Future Citizen of Atlantium I think it is a disgrace that they should make a flag of Atlantium from there own ideas. If you noticed they used the The Signum of the Office of the Emperor with out the words and with the flag of the Vexillum of the Office of Emperor. I guess they tried to merge it together. I will always be a supporter for Atlantium. I don’t know why I would do that but there is something that draws me to Atlantium that if It became a real nation just like Russia or the USA I would give up my American Citizenship and apply for Citizenship in Atlantium and I would live there till I die.

Hi Richard, We're actually trying to avoid being too much like the US or Russia - that's why people tend to find us to be an attractive alternative. I'm sure that eventually we'll evolve into something that people can align themselves with in reality; its just a matter of time. It only takes enough people pulling in the same direction to make such things happen; that's how the US started, after all - a small group of people who decided to change the way their lives were governed - and lo, 2 centuries later we have a global superpower.

Top o' the mornin! Sure George, I had the same thoughts last night about the scans; I brought the Atlantis booklet to the school where I teach and will scan it and transmit them to you. Tomorrow I'll do the Celestia booklet. I also have that neat article about Outer Baldonia I referenced in the LINKS site. The Atlantis booklet was worth acquiring, althogh instead of "The Story of Operation Atlantis", "The Prologue and Chapter One of Operation Atlantis" would have been more appropriate. In November of 1968, they had just moved into the Sawyerkill Motel and the whole thing was still in its inception. I wonder if Stevens ever wrote a follow-up. I think what many micro-nations lacked was an heir or successor to carry it to the next generation; though sometimes that doesn't pan out, either. Is Sealand (not the rebel-version) still breathing? And how about Hutt River Province, are they under new "management" and do they still hold the same stature they once did? Erik

If I remember and read correctly That George does not have any children and doesn’t have a male Heir. So how do you go about choosing an Heir for your nation?.

Atlantium is a republican monarchy with the Emperor being elected for life from amongst the membership of the nobility.
The nobility in turn are appointed by the reigning Emperor based on merit. The Atlantian nobility is not hereditary because of that fact.
We think this represents the best of all worlds.
Similar historic precedents include the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth, the Papacy and the Holy Roman Empire - although none of those had a meritocratic non-hereditary nobility.
