Nice auctions, Oded; the Elleore coins are rather pretty! As you know, I think I will soon have a set on the way thanks to one of our awesome members. But I'm surprised many of the other USNS members (the ones we rarely hear from, even the bunch from the Yahoo Groups) haven't begun a bidding war already and aren't stepping/trampling all over themselves to get these coins. If they have seen the auction, and aren't bidding, they might regret it in the future. They are sometimes a hard bunch to figure out. Did you post a message about the auctions at the Yahoo Groups? If they don't sell, hold onto them for a while to try again in the future (maybe after the new UWC catalog comes out, and people have had time to build up an appetite), but I wouldn't reduce your price one red cent. Your starting bids are a bargain.

Howdy,
I seen a few of the USNS members auction page at ebay and I think that the prices are very high in my opinion.
I would really like to get my hands on some Sealand Dollars but the only coin's I can afford are from Molossia which sells for only $2 bucks each and shipping is included.
Don't call me cheap if you hear my story than you will understand.

Well, I do know what you mean. I think Oded started most of these Elleore coins at $9.99, and at the time the coins had no bids; this struck me as a great price if it stayed that way (meaning that an initial bidder would be extremely lucky if no one bid against him/her and he/she obtained the coin for that price). Unfortunately (and I really mean unfortunately), there's not much out there for $2.00, especially in silver (which is one of the most favored metal issues). Only once in a blue moon (every 2 or more years?) does something come out in that price range- Molossia, Microna (originally), Nova Roma... This is definitely an expensive hobby, and requires a substantial financial commitment; not for the "faint-of-heart", as the saying goes. Prices will probably only go up after the new UWC catalog comes out.

Coin-collecting can be an expensive obsession!
There are plenty of cheaper cupronickel coins from the Hutt River Province floating around on eBay in the $3-6 range.

In regards to the Elleore coins- here's something to think about: do you think the 5 coins, in spite of their dates, were all minted simultaneously, recently? What are the odds of coins from '69, 79, 83, etc... being out there in the world without any of us (especially those of you in Europe) ever hearing about them? Can this really be possible, I mean, not ONE of us were aware of these coins until recently. Just some food for thought...

Why not? I only found out about the Damanhur coins in 2003 and these were around since the mid 1980's...

Good point; I guess all these new discoveries can be chalked up to assistance of modern technology. It's amazing how the Internet has transformed our hobby; it's made us aware of so many interesting issues, and brought so many interesting people together. Without it, I'd still be in the numismatic "stone age". My micro-national/fantasy collection would be virtually non-existent.
