Thanks George! This was a great find; looks like this one pre-dates Mr. Zinkann's first Antarctica coin by 5 years!

Yes, Antarctica is a popular subject of micronational attention. Bruce Henderson, who is the New Zealander responsible for foisting one of the more hideous Occussi- Ambeno coins upon the world has been producing stamps from dozens of fantasy states - some located in Antarctica - since the 1960s. I'm not aware of him creating any coins for his Antarctic "countries" (which include the People's Republic of Kemp Land and the Republic of Mevu), but something might always crop up. Visit ICIS (the International Council of Independent States) for much hilarity, popups and bad photoshop artwork: www.angelfire.com/art/icis/

Hi George I've communicated with Bruce H. pretty extensively on this topic, and he is pretty adamant in his statement that he has not issued any of the O-A coins (neither from 3 distinct series, the final one being the hideous one we all love to hate). He does have a desire to mint an O-A coin, and I've been trying to be helpful in this regard- I'll keep everyone posted if anything positive comes up. Bruce did my Zilchstadt and Heliopolis stamps last year, also.
