Hello! I received an e-mail from someone, in regards to some new Lasqueti coins. The e-mail was by Tolling, who is one of the creators, addressed to me, but from a 3rd party's e-mail address. So I'm not sure if that 3rd person was just forwarding Tolling's message to me (and wrote in the "Hi Erik" part), or if it was sent to me by Tolling himself (and perhaps he was using someone else's e-mail service). I've never had any success in reaching Tolling or his partner before, but I'm trying again. I'll keep everyone posted. Here's the message:
"Hi Erik, I am writing to you to let you know that the Lasqueti Mint is alive and well and embarking on a new coinage programe that will show case the coins of Cascadia!! The mint plans to continue our production of pure gold and silver coins with this focus with the expectation that the continued colapse of the mega-nation state will lead to the creation of states based on bio-reagionalism. Our 1997-2003 coinage focused on the Gulf Islands of British Columbia in an attempt to establish an exchange system based on bullion. This worked with Lasqueti coinage being used in trade not only in these islands but all over the world!! Peace to you, Tolling"

Here's something I wrote based on updates I've received:
Their 1997-2003 coinage, which focused on the scenic archipelago pertaining to the Gulf Islands of B.C., was "an attempt to establish an exchange system based on bullion" and to create a "shadow economy" for the municipalities/districts in the Islands Trust Area of the Georgia Strait. More recently, the two mintmasters have taken delivery of a panograph milling machine, which allows them to make their own dies. They are continuing to mint silver and gold coins "with the expectation that the continued collapse of the mega-nation state will lead to the creation of states based on bio-regionalism." They predict that present political systems will eventually self-destruct and that their "paper economies" will crumble. It is their hope that "other communities will want to have their own coins with an obverse that reflects their unique attributes." They've embarked on a new coinage programme showcasing the coins of Cascadia, a pivotal region of the Pacific Northwest. Its first issue is a 1/2 ounce "One Sand Dollar" dated 2005.
Target date for the coin is summer of this year. I'll keep everyone posted.

Oh, and I almost forgot- for those of you who have their "legalization of marijuana" gold coin, Tolling refers to it as a "Dinar". So this is good to know. I had mentioned to him that none of his coins had a "denomination" and I asked him if he intended to give one to the Cascadia coin. So he said that they'd be called Sand Dollars, and told me about the "Dinar".
