One of the best sources of information on the SCA, and a limitless stream of other Micro-National and Fantasy Coins can be found at Mr. Erik McCrae's fantastic website www.geocities.com/erik_mccrae/linksBorrowing from Mr. McCrae, is a history in brief of the SCA; The SCA was born during a medieval themed party in Berkley, California by Diana Lucile Paxson (writer) and Marion Zimmer Bradley. It has since that time retained an entirely medieval theme, who's "Knowne World" is divided into kingdoms and fiefdoms, repleat with Kings, Queens, Pinces, Princesses, Barons and Baronesses. The First Tournament (a going away party for Diana), on May 1, 1966, is the beginning date for the SCA's own calendar. Years are known as "Anno Societatis". The SCA is strongly connected to the Renaissance Faire tradition that has been popular with nostalgic history buffs in the last thirty years. As Erik McCrae points out on his great website, their is an untold number of SCA coinage floating about and nobody has attempted any formal cataloging. Erik has been able to obtain coins dating back as early as 1974 to 76. I have not been so lucky to find one of these early pieces. My earliest coins are mid-1990s. Thus far I have been able to acquire 43, up to 2004. One coin, which was originally struck was an error, and a second minting was performed to correct specs. Both of these I've managed to acquire and will be listed on additional postings. In addition to the coins I will list, I hope that others will add SCA coins they have found and thus will begin the needed catalog that Mr. McCrae has hoped for. Stephen

The link: www.geocities.com/erik_mccrae/links is no longer valid. Geo-cities no longer exists. Do you have another link to this person? I have what I believe is a SCA coin/medallion but can't find any info on it. Thank you. Have a great day. Jill
